Getting your Driving Started
Before you start taking your driving lessons you need to apply for a provisional licence, which you can do 2 months before your 17th birthday, however you can't drive until your 17th birthday. To apply for your provisional licence, and to get further details, just visit the DVLA website or obtain form D1 from the Post Office

Don't forget that you need to notify the DVLA and exchange your test pass certificate and provisional driving licence for a new 'Full' driving licence as soon as possible.
